Totality

7 Years, 16 Weeks.

This past weekend we were witness to a rare natural phenomenon that took the country by storm:

A total solar eclipse.

And it was one that would go clear across the nation, from Oregon all the way to South Carolina, people flocked to certain parts of the country just to get a glimpse of totality, where the moon completely blocks out the sun for a couple of minutes, casting a dark shadow on the land.  Uncle Tadd drove out to Nebraska to see it, whereas the rest of the country only saw a 94-98% partial eclipse, like here in Orlando, where it got slightly dark, like a hazy dusk, but nothing too impressive.  The school purchased special eclipse viewing glasses for all the students, so it was neat for them to see it without ruining their eyesight.

Just as the eclipse was happening in Orlando, couldn't really see anything with the phone's camera.

The kids looking at the last part of the eclipse after school dismissal.

At the peak of the eclipse in Orlando, a haze around the sun, and a slightly darker sky.

View through the eclipse viewer glasses lenses.

Here was our [short] week:

Attended a baby shower for our friends Adrien and Stacy Shepherd, their first baby, Victoria would be born a week later.

The kids enjoyed being there, for the food, and

especially because of the use of the pool!

Test driving some new minivans with the parents!

Someone lost tooth #12!

The new adult tooth was already growing in!

Working on her piano lessons.

Working on his homework.

Have a great weekend!!

Back To School!

7 Years, 15 Weeks.

Oh man, what a week it has been!

Back to the crazy busy schedule of the school year, but even more so, as this week came with some pretty intense moments:

1.  The kids all went back to school.
2.  I started working with Jared and Mike on a video project.
3.  Tangie went out of town Tues - Thursday.
4.  The van broke down on me on the highway and died.

So yeah, pretty crazy.  But we survived, thanks to our friends and grandparents for helping us and lending a hand.

The highlight of the week was the kids going back to school!

Have a great school year guys!  Good luck and have fun learning!

Here are the pictures:

Brae with her new teacher Mrs. Anderson, who came from teaching at Walker in Avon Park!
She was cousin Lyka's teacher in elementary school!

Maddy and

Kohl with their new teacher Mrs. Thomas (from FLEC) in the 2nd/3rd grade classroom.

Heading to work with the guys!

Mike directing the shot sequence.

Traditional after 1st day of school to Menchie's for frozen yogurt.  The older kids graduated to blue shirts!

The younger siblings joined as well.  Have a great year everyone!

Shooting from atop the Solutions Center at AHS.

Sent Duncan this picture to let him know I was close!

Shooting another scene at the old MIS building in Courtland on Tuesday.

Kohl doing his reading homework.

Another day, still another shoot.

Aunt Marlissa helped us out by picking up all the kids and taking them to the library.

Studying and doing their homework before Adventurers/Pathfinders that evening.

Brought the kids some supper and they scarfed it down before the meeting.

Adventurers has grown since we've been there 4 years ago!

Standing at attention and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

The triplets hanging out together in the Sunbeams group.

Braelyn listening to instructions as a first time Pathfinder.

She found her buddy!

They hadn't seen each other in a couple of months, so they never left each other's side that evening.

Helped Jared move a couch from their office upstairs to the curb.

Messaging Mommy in Atlanta and telling her how our morning was going.

Which was short lived, our van died just a couple of hours prior to me going to pick up the kids from school.
Overheated on 429, I crawled back to 441 to take the backroad home and it promptly died on me in Apopka.
Fortunately Marlissa was working from home and saved me from the heat, while Allison helped me pick up the kids to bring home.  I had AAA tow it to TiresPlus where they assessed a blown head gasket and totaled engine!

Kohlden was pastor of the class this week and he gave sermonettes for worship each morning!

Swung by the Science Center Friday afternoon.

Happy the first week of school is done!

Picked up Mommy from work, the kids took a quick tour of her office.

Supper out at Cheddar's cafe.

Swung by to pick our personal effects from the van.

They were sad about losing the van.

Love letters in dust.

Had AAA bring the van back to our house.  We'll most likely use it for a trade in.

Kohlden was fascinated with the tow truck!

Visiting the farm and saying hello to the sheep.

They had some free kittens to give away but I was firm and declined.

Short road trip to Avon Park to see the grandparents and pick up their van to use in the interim.

Have a great weekend!!
