Back to Reality

Tangie’s turn!

16-1/2 weeks
Kohlden 13lbs 8 oz
Madelyn 12 lbs 3 oz

It’s amazing how much they are starting to communicate. Also, we can’t leave Madelyn in any swing, bouncer, etc. without the seatbelt now as she is a twister. She’ll be upside down before you can turn around. They are also trying to get their hands in their mouths and rubbing their faces a lot, which makes keeping a passy in quite difficult.
Friday night we were treated to dinner by Allen’s parents. They took us to Sweet Tomatoes, since it was the most economical for 6 adults, you really get a bang for your buck there, especially with coupons, and we needed a restaurant with a lot of action, people, and noise, so if the twins started acting up, it wouldn’t cause too big of a scene!
We went to church Saturday and were lucky to have the 4 grandparents there to help. We then were able to go to the Gauls (Michelle Fuentes’ parents’ home) for lunch which was a nice treat. Braelyn really enjoyed playing blocks with Michelle and Edman!
Lolo and Lala let us take a much needed Sabbath afternoon nap and then let us go out on the town with Kent and Kelli, who we hadn’t seen in weeks! Sorry to those that come over to our house….its not more than 3 minutes that two babies are thrown into your arms. Dinner at Timpano’s Chophouse overlooking the lake from the back patio was a nice reprieve, and then “Grown-Ups” with Adam Sandler showed us how we’ve transitioned into parenthood. Allen just hopes he can be as goofy and still be a cool dad (he just wrote that)!

Sunday Allen had to work, but the four generations of girls (and Kohlden) ventured out to the mall to look for school clothes for Braelyn. Uniforms for her advanced preschool class! I never knew there were so many different shades of navy polos – and at a variety of prices too, however the shopping part came into play, as there was rarely a size 4. After much walking Brae wanted on the stroller with the twins; she actually enjoyed sitting in Maddy’s car seat in the stroller while we held Maddy.

Monday we took Nana and Deeda out for lunch at their favorite restaurant, Bahama Breeze. The twins behaved for the most part. Then we took a quick look at the outlets while Allen counted minivans in the parking lot. Did you know that there were 35 Town and Country’s and 41 Caravans in the entire parking lot? Crazy.
That afternoon Allen took Brae to swimming class. She completed the survival course in 3 weeks instead of 4. Now she’s on to stroke lessons two days a week. She’s loving it. This weeks video:
Tuesday at 5am I took Nana and Deeda to the airport. It was so sad to see them go, and we appreciate them dedicating a month to be with us. It went by sooo fast. Now we are back to reality and just the Isidro 5 while i'm on maternity leave again for the next four weeks.
Wednesday I went to work for a couple hours in the AM then I relieved Allen of baby duty so he could do the late shift. He even made us cookies! In the afternoon, I felt like an official soccer mom (well, swim meet mom or something). I picked up Braelyn from school and took her to swimming (thanks Nana for doing this for the past 3 weeks) with the twins in tow. I actually fit both of them in a Maya wrap to go into Starchild to get Braelyn (sorry, didn't have enough hands to get a picture). Her classroom is way in the back and would’ve been a big pain to get the stroller back there or lug two car seats by myself. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many stares. The parents and teachers passing just grinned as I passed and the 3 year olds all had to stop playing and run to see us on the playground. I’ve never seen Braelyn more proud to be a big sister. She was so excited that both babies were there to greet her. Landon was also so excited to see them that he gave her a big hug which was really cute. They all wanted to touch the twins but the teachers held them off. That was too funny. Off to swimming class we went. It started to downpour as we were trying to get into the building. We had to run in as to not get us too wet. Braelyn and her teachers were happy that the twins could finally come to her class. We had to plan our escape back in the rain. Luckily one of the staff held an umbrella for us all the way to the car. Kohlden and Madelyn did so good on this outing. No crying at all (except for the ride home)! Once home, after a stop at Chik-fil-a and where I had to explain to Brae that we couldn’t go into the playground today, we went home to feed the babies, feed ourselves, get the babies to bed, get Brae’s bath in, and then get her to bed, all the while trying to make it fun for her. Only one melt down when she didn’t want to wipe after going potty as she didn’t want to wash her hands for some reason. The things they get stubborn about, I’ll tell you. I finally got her down by 9:30 after trying since 8:30. She didn’t want to be “alone in her room”, the current phase she is going through. All in all, success for my first night alone with 3 kids. Guess there are a lot to come due to all those late shifts Allen’s been avoiding for the past 3 months.

With much success the night before, unfortunately the twins decided to wake each other up – 2am then 6am….oh, we’ve actually moved them to the nursery this week for the first time now that it is not a being used as a guest room. They are getting used to sleeping in the same crib for a while.

Thursday they seemed to be fussy most of the day but are now starting to enjoy the bouncers and activity centers…for a few minutes at a time. Braelyn likes to pretend she's a baby too once in a while. Doesn't want to miss out on any of the fun.

Have a good week!

  1. Bravo! Sounds like a successful week! Braelyn looks so comfortable in the water - we loved the move where she was swimming to the teacher, flipped over for a breather, then flipped over again at full speed ahead! The twins are so cute - I'm so glad that you had the entire clan there to help you guys out this past week. Tangie, you're our hero with 3 kids and no stroller...

Miss you all! Give them everyone our hugs and kisses!
