Madelyn was a finalist for her 1st grade class and participated in OJA's 7th Annual Spelling Bee on Friday. How all those young students could stand up in front of everyone and spell any given word that was asked of them is beyond me. As parents we were extremely proud, smiling and giving thumbs up and words of approval; inside we were total nervous wrecks!
She went through 8 rounds, where she fell upon having to spell the word "onion", switching the "i" and "o", a mistake I could've easeley made myself! (See what I did there?) Crushed, she went back to her seat until the round was over. There were some tears flowing, but mostly from Mommy in the audience who couldn't help but feel empathy for her baby girl on stage. But what a feat.
In the end she received a participant's medal and that helped soothe the loss. But we were so proud that she even made it that far, and she said she was determined to do better in next year's Spelling Bee!

Took Papa to play our 3rd and final round of this trip at the Winter Park Golf Course, while Nana enjoyed shopping on Park Ave.
It was such a beautiful day, and since it's only a nine hole course, decided to lug my clubs and walk.

Went to Universal CityWalk in the evening to take the whole family out for Christmas.
A cold front was bearing down and it was super chilly, the coldest night of the season!
But that didn't stop them from climbing on top of everything they saw!

Went to the Chocolate Emporium but alas, the wait was over 2 hours long!
However, there was no such wait at Cici's Pizza on I-Drive!

On Tuesday we dropped Papa at the airport as he had to return for work. Nana would stay with us another week.

Thursday evening had supper at Zoe's Kitchen in Altamonte Springs.
The 3-4 grade team played at FLEC afterward.

House Project:
Papa helped me convert some unused wall space into a corner accent cubby! Thanks to him for his expertise and help, and also to Karis for letting us use his amazing table saw!!
