As in "This can't be happening, STOP GROWING UP SO FAST!"
Braelyn turned 9 this week, can you believe it? Last year she was halfway to getting her driver's license. This year, she is halfway to being able to vote! I just hope she doesn't have to deal with pompous and obtuse candidates like we have this year… [sigh]
She is growing up so quickly before our eyes. I know, I know, we've been warned it would happen. Sometimes I wish I could just keep her small and all to ourselves. But alas, the circle of life won't stop, even for a second, so we must comply and continue to let her grow.
Her final year of single digits. Wow.
Happy Birthday Braelyn! And Uncle Mike too!!
Sharing birthday celebrations for the past 9 years!
Here was our week:
Maddy enjoying a date with Daddy to Costco.
We had friends from Chattanooga in town and had them over for supper Friday evening.
The men catching up.
Maddy enjoying her hotdog.
Mommy and Jack McClarty along with others at the fire pit.
With the McClarty's and Dunkels.
The whole crew, 4 families represented!
Kohlden lost somewhere underneath the Ottati kids!
Made a quick stop to Ocoee's Spring Fling for a new tree and bike helmets. Got to ride on a police bike.
Maddy somehow convinced Kohlden to let her write on his face. Really?
Joined some friends from church for a picnic potluck at Sweetwater Beach park on Lake Brantley.
The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and water afterwards.
27 kids in all!
Joined the Hickams and McClarty's for dinner and movie under the stars at the Hickam's subdivision
in Altamonte Springs.
Kohl and Boston hanging out together in the sand.
The ladies getting photo bombed by Allison.
Being serenaded by Richard on their back patio.
Early Sunday morning, an hour lost due to time change, had a dark and early bike ride at 6:30 AM!
We did get to see a little light once the sun rose.
Robert Vargas, Jack McClarty, and Richard Hickam. Nice being able to keep up with the guys.
Pancake breakfast, we started celebrating her birthday week on Sunday.
Putting up some surprise decorations while she was out of the house.
Ottatis came over to play with the twins in the backyard.
I don't know what Maddy was doing here.
Lolo and Lala drove up for the afternoon to celebrate with us.
As did Uncle Mike, in town for work. He was immediately engulfed with hugs from all the kids,
and especially Madelyn.
The Clarke's joined us at Winter Garden Pizza Company.
The CoMadres greet one another.
Uncle Mike and his nieces.
Then photo bombed by his nephew!
The group in the private room.
They came over for a little bit to see Braelyn open up some early birthday gifts.
At the voting precinct with Mommy early Tuesday before school.
Yay, we got our "I voted" stickers even though they really didn't vote!
Maddy at soccer practice. They're in the gym because the soccer field sod was being worked on.
Kohl making sure he stays hydrated!
Dropping Nana off to the airport for Denver. She had a fun 2 weeks!
Supper at the happiest place on earth. But certainly not the healthiest!
A rare hug given by Madelyn.
Riding bikes in their pajamas! The time change really screwed up our bedtime routine.
Braelyn trying out my birthday gift to her, clipless pedals and cycling shoes.
She's a natural! She got the hang of the clips right away!
Waking up a 9 year old. Reading her birthday card from Mommy and Daddy.
Birthday shenanigans with her classmates.
We brought them some cupcakes, and they had some fun with that!
She was so happy to have us there.
Checking out some more accessories for her bike, including
a new set of riding gear since she's grown out of her old ones.
Tradition calls for the celebrants to FaceTime and sing Happy Birthday to each other at the same time!
Maddy working on some schoolwork.
Enjoying a mango smoothie on a quick date with Daddy while the twins do soccer practice.
Hung out with Uncle Mike before he left back for California on Friday. Always great to see him.
Randoms:
Working on replacing Braelyn's pedals before she got home from school.
So awesome to see her using cleats and clipless pedals!
One of 3 rides this week. I totaled 100 miles since Sunday!
Photo of workers re-doing a section of sidewalk pavement, after I failed to see that the concrete was still wet and rode my bike over it, leaving tire tracks. To be fair, there were no signs and the area was not roped off, so it technically was not my fault I had ruined their work. Fortunately I was able to wipe off all the concrete that had sprayed up on the bike, my shoes and me. What a mess!

Kohlden had just taken a sip of Mommy's water, which was infused with lemon and lime essential oil:
Kohl: "This tastes like the smell of Lala's house!"
