Fender Bender

4 Years, 28 Weeks.

You never plan for them to happen.

That's why they're called accidents.

And unfortunately one happened to us this week.  To Mommy, specifically.

Just a scratch...

She's okay, thank goodness.  In fact, the whole thing happened so slowly she had time to cringe and hear the other car scrape on her side panel as the driver at fault was rounding a corner too wide at the Science Center parking lot Tuesday evening.  Tangie was there to attend an E&Y alumni get together, one that she had planned out, and was just about to park when the accident occurred.  Talk about great timing.  So while the guests were arriving and heading inside to enjoy reconnecting and networking, Tangie had to wait in the garage until the police arrived.  And since the accident wasn't an emergency and wasn't impeding any traffic, her call got bumped down the list and was told it would be an hour before they could get to her to complete a report.

An hour and fifteen minutes, actually.

Fortunately the driver of the other car was nice; she was a young teacher at the pre-school just getting off and heading home.  She was very apologetic and gave Tangie all the information needed for the police and insurance reports. While they were waiting for the police, Tangie called our insurance and started the process of filing a claim, to get the ball rolling.  After the police left she was finally able to go inside and attend the last half of the function.

There are several nice big scrapes and indentations on the driver's side, but fortunately that was the extent of the damage.  We've already gone to the body shop and they have ordered the necessary parts, or "skin" as they call it, so hopefully they can get that done by next week.  We're just thankful it wasn't anything more, and that nobody was hurt.  I guess if you want an accident to happen, then her's was the best scenario.

Except the whole waiting for the police part!

Brae's rendition of the accident in her letter for Mommy.

Here was our week:

Picking up the kids, including Gabriella, from school on Friday.

Braelyn at gymnastics class.

She and Sydney got Gymnasts of the Month!

What a nice surprise!  Bumped into Patrick, Jenice, Auntie Net and Uncle Nelson on our Costco run.

Zonked out in the living room after all getting massages from Lala.

Sabbath potluck picnic at Newton Park after church.  It was such a glorious day!

Maddy hanging on to Colby.  I think sometimes she wishes
she had a younger sibling.  Sorry Missy!!

The kids out exploring the shoreline of Lake Apopka.  We saw 4 gators and many turtles and birds.

At the Oakland Nature Preserve for a walk afterwards.

With Lala on the dock at the end of the half mile boardwalk.

Mommy frantically making specialty French toasts for a baby shower she and Corey
and a bunch of ladies were attending for Miss Jennifer.

Met up with Duncan and his crew for lunch at Old Winter Garden Pizza.

Froyo dessert at Jojo's.

Feeding the birds at Lake Stark.

A Brady sandwich!  Hung out in their backyard while

the dads worked on making a concrete fire pit for their patio.

Siblings hanging out together.

I see the light!!  The twins at the Pediatrics office; they got the flu mist and Kohl
was given antibiotics for an ear infection.

Silly at the Science Center.  We missed Mommy (and her accident) there by only 2 hours!

We made our own homemade gummy snacks.  Healthier and delicious!!

"Excuse me, but have you all seen 3 kids running around the store?  No?"
In the African section at Old Time Pottery.

Just chilling on the stairs, sippin' on his water.

Getting their morning exercise.

Working on some homework from school.

Back at the Pediatricians office so Braelyn could get her flu mist.  Prevention is key!

Baby gator at the lake, 2 footer.

Nice accident near the intersection just in front of our subdivision on Tuesday.
I sent this picture to Tangie, who ironically would experience hers soon after!

Homemade gummy snacks!!

The grandparents loaned us their Rainbow cleaning system, and this was what I
pulled out from the carpet after vacuuming the dining room once!!  Gross!!

A hilariously awkward moment from Corey, err…Calleigh.
Gotta love text messaging!

Quotes:

  • On our way to pick Braelyn up, the twins were practicing their colors in Spanish in the van:
          Me:  "Blue."
          Kohl:  "Azul!"
          Me:  "Red."
          Maddy:  "Rojo!"
          Me:  "Green."
          Kohl:  "Verde!"
          Me:  "Black."
          Maddy:  "Eggroll!"

Um...I think the word you're looking for is "Négrõ"….

  • Madelyn was telling me that Kohlden had bit into his lollipop, Kohlden was obviously annoyed and retorted to Madelyn: "Worry about yourself, don't worry about me!!"

No worries here!

Have a great weekend!

509!

4 Years, 27 Weeks.

510 actually.  [as I write this Wednesday night; they play against the Chargers on Thursday]

The number of touchdown passes Peyton Manning has thrown in his career through Sunday evening, claiming the all time record after surpassing Brett Favre's 508 during the Bronco's 42-17 thrashing of the 49'ers.

And why does this matter?

Because no one else is even close.  Because he's still playing at an extremely high level, with no thoughts on retirement yet, which means he's only going to add to that record.  Because he's playing his best football to date, 3 years after 4 neck surgeries.   Because he's our quarterback.

Because he's Peyton Manning.
