Tooth-less

6 Years, 25 Weeks.

A significant sign of growing up, Kohl lost his first tooth this week!  It had been pretty loose over the past couple of weeks, but he was too timid to try anything to yank it out.  No coaxing, encouragement, or even bribery could convince him to let us pull it, although each time I would ask to wiggle it I would do it with some force until he said it hurt.  Nevertheless, last Saturday night he called us over to the bathroom, where he had pulled it out himself!  He was still quite in a bit of shock as we congratulated him and celebrated his first lost tooth.

With the bloody tooth on the counter.

Great smile buddy!

With his tooth and a photo bomb from big sis!

Also that evening, the Chicago Cubs won the NLCS over the Dodgers to advance to their first World Series in 71 years!  I'm not a huge baseball fan but having grown outside of Chicago, it was nice to see my friends getting super excited on social media.  And especially with the Cubs not having won the World Series in 108 years, this was history in the making, so I'm sure I'll be watching the games closely to see the outcome.

Here was our week:

Picking up some shirts for him as he's been growing fast out of his old ones.

Picking up the girls from gymnastics.

Some time to play at the new Matthews Park.

Braelyn opted to work on her jump shots.

Joined the Jamersons at the food trucks for supper.

First cold front of the season Sabbath morning!

Such a beautiful day outside, we didn't want it to go to waste.

We loaded up and headed across town to Orlando Wetlands Park.

Following Mommy to the picnic tables.

Enjoying lunch first!

Braelyn having a good laugh.

Enjoying his PB&J and lemonade.

Maddy was the only brave one to hold the giant grasshopper!

And we're off!

Such a gorgeous day.  And what a pretty place!  We hadn't been there in over 12 years!

Always on the watch.

Especially when they're camouflaged like this guy.  He was a good 7 feet or so.

Following Mommy down the trail.

Spotting another alligator.

This guy was around 4 feet.

Lots of birds and waterfowl about.

Sunday morning, he shows what the Tooth Fairy left him overnight!

Went to a pumpkin patch Sunday.

Maddy seeing if she could pick them up.

She finally found one that she could!

Howdy partner!

We stopped by the carnival in Windermere.

Getting our tickets!

Kohl wanted to do the bumper cars.

Brae and Mommy did the high drop thing ride.

It swirled up and down like a pendulum.

All three doing the Tilt-a-Whirl.

Tuesday we went to St. Augustine for Brae's 4th grade class field trip.
Allison and Ashton carpooled with us.

At the Old Florida Museum, waiting for the rest of their classmates.

Learning about the Timicua Indians from our guide.

I was "volunteered" by Brae's teacher to be "Chief Olata", my before selfie with the squaw.

And after my face paint and get up.

Sitting on the Chief's throne in the council hut.

We both had our faces painted.  She enjoyed being referred to as "Chief Olata's daughter".

Learning how they made dug out canoes out of tree trunks.

Trying to make fire with a bow drill.

As "Ponce de Leon" as we learned of the Spanish colonization of Florida.

Dipping and making their own candles.

With her buddy Leif still trying to make fire with bow drills.

Watching Carlissa pound corn to make flour.

Playing a game with rocks and sticks.  No iPads or Tablets back then!

Did a trolley tour of the city.

Class photo inside the fort Castillo de San Marcos.

The weather was perfect that day!

Both 4th grade classes on the steps inside the fort.

Monday Night Football:

A pretty significant game, especially since we had lost the past two games, so we needed a win, but most importantly, because the opposing team was the Houston Texans, and their starting quarterback, Brock Osweiler.  You'll remember him from the past 3 years as our backup quarterback to Peyton Manning, who decided to take a large sum of money and run this past off season.  We had groomed him to be our next quarterback after Manning retired in March, and this was how he repaid the Broncos.  Monday night was his first game back against us, and the Broncos defensive players were licking their chops, ready to pounce.  They made it a nice welcome back party, making it a miserable night for him and his less than stellar performance.  Lackluster, actually.  But hey, $72M always helps the loss not sting as much.

But for us, revenge was sweet.

I read this and literally LOL'd!

He was scrambling for his life all evening.

Gotta love that Denver air!

Poor Brock.  I'm sure he was pretty sore the next day.

Exactly.  Houston, you have a problem...

Food:

Butternut squash ravioli with baby zucchini.

Spinach pancakes with egg and smoked salmon.

Randoms:

Wondering if he was sending me some sort of message...

Chilly Sunday morning!

Debris and devastation from Hurricane Matthew still evident  on the sides of the roads in St. Augustine.

A lot of homes and business impacted, but it was nice to see the city back to work.

Glorious sunsets this time of year!

After several weeks of waiting, my birthday gift arrived this week!
The new iPhone7 Plus to replace my now unreliable iPhone5 that I got 4 years ago!

Less than 2 weeks before the election, I can't wait!!

Have a great weekend!!
