Back To School!

6 Years, 14 Weeks.

Summer break is officially over; we started the school year on Monday!

What a fun [and busy] summer we had! And how fast did it go!  But now it's back to work, back to our regular schedule.

Here was our week:

Watching Team USA enter into the stadium.  The 2016 Summer games are here!

Had the Jamersons and Clarkes over for lunch after church.

The adults ate first, in relative peace and quiet, while

the kids continued to play together.

The girls cooling off at the pool.

Adalyn and Madelyn working on a craft together.

The kids put together a show for the parents, which

included some sort of sword fight!

The Clarkes stayed for supper time too!

Breakfast pancakes, to commemorate our upcoming grades.

Mommy was the breakfast chef on Sunday.

Heading to school for registration!

Brae seeing her former 3rd grade teacher Ms. Ellington,

while Kohl gave his former Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Llewellyn and

Maddy gave Mrs. Hudak hugs!

Kohl at his new desk.

She was so excited to be in a new classroom!

Great reconnecting with classmates from last year.

Brae and Alyssa share hugs.

Taking a tour of the new Edible Education Center under construction, slated for completion by December!

Writing their names on the concrete blocks before they put up the drywall.

Getting his haircut for the first day of school!

Before and

after shot.  He opted for a spiky mohawk!

Shoes and backpacks ready to go.

Maddy working on her new shoes.  She learned to tie them this week!

Our big 4th grader!

They are in the same classroom this year!

Maddy's backpack is as big as her!

Good luck!!

Tux sadly watches the car drive away from the upstairs window.

With her new teacher Mrs. Braga.

Kohl and

Maddy with Mrs. Jamieson.

The first grade class all together.

At pick up after school.

How was your first day??

First day after school tradition with friends.

Frozen yogurt at Menchie's!

Group shot before we head out.

Enjoying her afternoon snacks after pickup!

Surprised them with a basketball board!

She couldn't wait to try it out, trying to get in some shots before the storm hit!

Enjoying some watermelon from the grandparents!

Doing some reading exercises on their Kindles.

A foodie's paradise:

An array of appetizers,

entreés,

and dessert for Sabbath potluck lunch!

Break it down:

More issues with the van, coming home from Disney Springs las Thursday night, overtook a driver
weaving on 429.  As I looked back after passing him, I noticed I was kicking up dust in my rearview mirror,
and smelled burning antifreeze, then noticed my temp gauge climbing up, and we were still around 7 miles from home. At 3 miles away the temp was all the way to high and the dashboard started dinging, and I was driving at 35 mph with my flashers on, praying the whole time that we wouldn't have to go to the side of the road as the kids were all fast asleep!  Fortunately we made it back home, and I called AAA the next morning to pick up and take to the shop, but they found that a clamp had gotten loose and a hose had popped off, therefore the reason we lost fluid.  He fixed it right there for me so we didn't have take it to the shop!

And if that wasn't enough excitement on Friday, our dryer of 8 years decided to quit on me, right in the middle of washing our clothes!  Some trouble shooting and research online and YouTube and I found the culprit of

a blown fuse on the control board.  So we've ordered a new board and awaiting its arrival, settling on drying our clothes the old fashioned way…hang dry from our bannister!

  • Conversation with our 4th grader after the third day of school:
Me:  "Hi honey, how was school?"
          Brae:  "Good."
Me:  "Did you get a chance to play basketball today?"
Brae:  "Not really.  Me and the girls just talked during recess."
Me:  "Oh?  What did you guys talk about?"
          Brae:  "Boys..."
          Me:

Have a great weekend!!
