Crack

6 Years, 10 Weeks.

It's not what it used to be.

Unless you happen to be talking about windshields, specifically, ours.

Came back to the car to find a nice crack!

It all started on the trip up to D.C.  We were stuck in traffic on I-95, on the outside lane slowly moving along.  As the traffic started to dissipate and everyone started to pick up speed, there became a gap between us and the car directly in front of us.  All of a sudden some idiot on a motorcycle shot by us on  the shoulder and cut back onto the pavement, right in front of me, and in doing so, flicked up rocks into the air, one striking our windshield and leaving a nice 1 inch chip.  Seriously dude?

We knew insurance would pay to have it replaced when we got home.  But we still had a whole week of driving around with it.  I was praying that the windshield would hold, and especially when we noticed that the 1 inch chip had become a nice full crack because of the heat from the sun!  I hoped there would be no shattering of glass on the drive back home.

So this past Tuesday was the first available appointment time for Safelite to come to our house to replace the windshield, which was fine.  The technician was nice and he completed the job in a couple of hours in the garage.  I was feeling sorry for him for having to work outside in the heat and humidity, until he told me that in the process of removing the old windshield, it had shattered and unfortunately he managed to nick and scratch a couple of places on the side and hood of the vehicle.  Seriously dude?

Ugh.

Pretty great, huh?

Watching Tony do his thing.

Our old windshield after the shatter.

The passenger door top and

hood both sustained scratches.

The new windshield in place.  Now off to the body shop!

So now I've taken the car to the body shop to get an estimate of the repair for that, and have scheduled an appointment for next week.  This little incident has proved to become quiet nettlesome.

And all because of a guy on his bike!

Here was our week:

The kids attending Sabbath school together, as now they twins have graduated to Braelyn's class as well.
C'mon Kohl, it's not that boring...

Mommy helping out with the craft prep for the kids.

Kohl enjoying his craft.

Joined the Jamersons for lunch at Kohinoor for some yummy Indian!

Had make your own pizzas at the Grodacks Saturday night.

It was great getting the group together after all the summer trips had separated us.

Sunday's skies called for a nice dip in the pool.

The water is a lot cooler in the mornings so we went for it.

Took the kids to lunch for a matinee to see The Secret Life of Pets.

The Aloma Cinema Grill serves food as the movie is played.

They really enjoyed the movie/restaurant setting.

The twins watching the previews as we wait for our order to arrive.

Playing some Twister to get some energy out!

Topping off with some homemade orange popsicles.

Monday midday to Monkey Joe's to get more energy out.

They enjoyed the jumping and the inflatable slides.

It was also July 11 so what better way to celebrate than to

get a free slurpee at 7-11!  We hit one…or maybe two...

We had both our air conditioning units serviced as they have been intermittently shutting off
due to clogging of the drainage pipes.  The twins enjoyed watching him work from the other
side of the vents.

Spaghetti for dinner means a Lady & The Tramp moment with Mommy!

Testing out some new carpet mats.  Braelyn was not amused.

Picking out some sitting chairs.

Finally!  We get some rain!! Hallelujah!

It was a good deluge too!!

Oh Daddy, please, not another picture!

Wednesday lunch at the clubhouse.

They so enjoy the water, and thank goodness too, this week's heat has been unbearable!

Afternoons warrant a nice cold frosty treat!

Don't get your hand chomped off!  At the library replenishing their reading supply.

They transformed the old playhouse into a reading corner.

They enjoyed creating a very cozy nook.

Took Mommy out to Kids' Night at Winter Garden Pizza.

Lunch at the Science Center.  It's a mad house in the summertime!

Watching a 3-D flick on Nat Geo's Wild Africa.

Food:

Attempted and succeeded in making pulled bbq Jackfruit!

Made a pasta supper for the police chief and his family.

Quote:

  • After the rainstorm on Sunday, Braelyn was taking Tux out to do his business:
Brae:  "Man, it's humid out here."
Me:  "Yeah, tell me about it."
          Brae:  "What does humid mean?"

Selfthree!

Have a great weekend!
