Champions!! (Again)

5 Years, 42 Weeks.

What a year it's been already, and it's not even March!

First the Broncos.  Now it's Braelyn.

Champions baby!!  The year of the "B"!!

Golden child.

This week Braelyn and her team won both their semifinal game on Sunday, and then pulled off the stunning upset as the underdogs in the Championship game Thursday night, playing the team from Fowler Elementary, who had the tallest 4th grader I had ever seen…and a girl no less!  Still, Braelyn and her team played great defense (defense wins championships, right??) stealing the ball and making it difficult for them to pass or make shots.  It was a close game, with them down 2 points at halftime, only to make a run in the 4th to take an 8 point lead and finish the game.  Braelyn contributed by making 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals!

What a great season, congrats to the champions!!

Go team!

Speaking of champions, this is my 300th post!  What a great feeling, I don't think anything can top that!!

And so, I'm going to bow out and retire this blog, and walk off into the sunset.

Like a champion.

Peyton Manning, please follow my lead.

Here was our week:

FaceTiming Lala, wishing her a Happy Birthday on Friday.

Kohl and Maddy at Sabbath School.

Sweet Tomatoes was the choice for lunch.

Hooked up with Aunt Marlissa and Isabella there.

Gorgeous afternoon, we finally got all of us out on the trail, and biked to Winter Garden.

A cool treat before heading back.  They biked 10 miles!!

Drafting behind Kohlden.  We were going 4 mph.

Waiting to cross a road, and giving Mommy and Maddy a chance to catch up.

Toasting some freshly squeezed orange juice!

Swung by Barnes & Noble before our game Sunday.
Going over a couple of Taylor Swift books she requested.

Maddy looked comfy reading some books.

Last minute strategies from the coaches.

Spectator shenanigans.

Final score.  We're going to the championship game!!

She also scored 2 points that game!

Joined the Grodacks and Reeves for supper at Positano.  The Reeves were in town from Georgia for a conference.

Always a hoot when we all get together!

They passed pizza dough around for the kids to play with while we waited for our food.

Things got really silly.

Counting her tickets from all the chores done.

He turned in 15 tickets for a Spiderman glider.

She turned in 16 for a Spiderman toothbrush!

Hanging out the park before supper Tuesday night.

We met up with the Reeves' again, in Old Winter Garden.

Originally their old haunt, Winter Garden Pizza Company.

Doing some work in class.

Sitting at the big table for supper.

Another quick stop to Barnes & Noble before the game Thursday night, to do
homework and possibly go over another Taylor Swift book.

Maddy chose a kids' Bible and settled in to read the stories.

A quick supper at Panera.

Warm ups and getting amp'd for the big game.

Kohlden practicing his jump shot

and dunks!

Ready for tip-off.  Their center was as tall as the ref!

Hands up!  Defense!!

Final score!

Braelyn receives recognition and her medal from Coach Jim and Coach Ron.

What a sweet feeling!

Randoms:

Even Spiderman made it to church on Sabbath.

Tux does a no-no and makes himself comfortable on a throw pillow.

A selfie found on my phone.

Another one.

And yet another.

This time with a photo bomb!

Marketers using Disney's Frozen to advertise and get kids to eat their vegetables!!

Wednesday morning ride after dropping the van off at the shop for new brakes, bumped into some buffalo.

Finally sold the 2nd Crib4Life on Craigslist.  Our first one for Braelyn and then Kohl.
It was a bittersweet moment watching that part of our lives drive away.

Remember how he chewed up his plastic crate?  Scored an x-large metal crate on Craigslist for $30!
Chew on that dog!!

Wondering where this door goes…and how to get up there!

Quote:

  • The kids were telling me about the King's Choraliers who had come to the school to perform for assembly:
Maddy:  "Daddy, we had a concert today at the school."
Me:  "Oh really?  Tell me about it."
Kohl:  "They were some really old men."
          Me:  "Yes?"
Maddy:  "And they were singing songs from way back then, before I was born."

  • Eating supper at Panera Thursday night:
Me:  "I really like these dates with you guys.  Don't you?"
          Kohl:  [matter-of-factly]  "Not really."

          What a kill joy.

Congrats Braelyn!!

Have a great week!!
