Tom Brady

5 Years, 38 Weeks.

Yes, can you believe it, I've dedicated this post and title to him.

Why?

Because he's no longer playing football this season!  Woo-hoo!!

Parting shot.

The Broncos ended up defeating the Patriots in the AFC Championship this past Sunday, and with it, a trip back to the Super Bowl in 2 weeks, to play Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers!

It was an amazing game, with our defense stifling New England's [until now] unstoppable offense.  Our pass rush swarmed Brady, giving him hits and sacks and knocking him down to the turf like a child would do to an old stuffed animal.  I felt really, really bad for him (is there a font for sarcasm?) and he looked so rattled and banged up.  He was even bleeding a little bit.  Our secondary covered his receivers that his completions were few and far in between.  It was an outstanding defensive stand.

Getting slammed to the ground.  This was when he threw his second interception!

#58 Von Miller was all over Brady.

Like all over.

And more.  I'm sure that wasn't a comfortable position at all!

And of course, like any Brady/Manning, Broncos/Patriots match-up, it came down to the wire, our defense making the last play defending a 2 point conversion with only 12 seconds left on the clock.  It was stressful and heart-stopping, finishing in relief and elation!  We had beaten Tom Brady and the Patriots for the 2nd time this year!!

So, I'm going to enjoy this for the next 10 days, since (and I'm being realistic here) we probably will not win the Super Bowl against the Panthers, they are a bang up tough team.  I would've rooted for them in the Super Bowl had New England beaten us instead.  I hope, at least, that we don't get blown out like we did 2 years ago vs. Seattle, and that if we do get beaten, that it will be close.

But playing the Patriots was our Super Bowl, and we won!

Yes!  YESSSSSSSS!!!

His last rodeo.

Here was our week:

Creating another magnificent block castle at OSC.

They just love building things!

Finishing up all their chores for the week.

Team colors on Sabbath!

Cuban lunch, delicious!

We took the kids down to the soccer field for some kite flying.

The kids had a hard time flying the kites, it was such a windy day.

Speaking of windy, we lost Brae's kite and found it at the volleyball court,

with the string and handle up in a tree!

Doing laundry Sunday morning.

Took Maddy to a classmate's birthday party.

It was a spy theme and now Maddy is a man.

She enjoyed her time with her friends.

Especially these two, Riley and Penny.  It was Penny's birthday.

Taking a swing at the piƱata.

Mommy working on making an appetizer for the afternoon party at the Grodacks.

Jennifer threw Corey a surprise birthday party…at the exact same time as the game!!
I was so torn all week whether or not to attend, since Corey DVR's the games and I didn't feel
it right to stay there and follow the live score on my phone, she being the biggest Patriot fan of all.

Fortunately I had decided to go just for the surprise portion of the party, and then ride my bike
back home to watch the game.  Corey was appreciative of that decision I'm sure!
Sorry Corey! You can have the next 5 years once Manning retires!

They rented a jazz band for her!  I hope they played great...

After the game,  Kohlden was so inspired by Denver's defense,
he tackled Braelyn and she hit her head.  Hard.

Feeling a little blue the next day.

New exhibit at the Science Center.

Kohl loved doing the climbing wall on the castle.

Maddy picking eggs and vegetables in her basket.

The grandparents, along with Uncle Tito and Auntie Esther, came over for supper on Tuesday.
The were headed to the airport to pick up Lala's youngest sister, arriving from the Philippines.

Enjoying haystacks for dinner.

Orange you glad I didn't wear my blue one today??

Catching up and staying connected with Mike.

Maddy getting relief from the rain from Mrs. Llewellyn.

Enjoying the little carts at Trader Joe's!

Who is this diva??

Helping get supplies at Home Depot.  The kids were out of school Thursday and
Friday due to teachers in-service.

Maddy showing how she dribbles with both hands!

Braelyn trading some football cards with friends David and Jonathan.

Still raining, making the trek to Costco.

Working on some crafts they received at Christmas.

She enjoyed painting and decorating her new hand mirror.

Randoms:

Just a lot of rain over the past week.

This was from a church in Rhode Island.  Go figure.

Spanish moss catching a ride on someone's car antennae.

Sunday was the coldest day of the season.

I'm sorry but I had to!  This is so wrong in so many ways...

We received some goodies from Papa and Nana!  Commemorative
Super Bowl shirt and papers on the win!

Gnocchi with basil pesto chicken sausage and arugula.

No quote this week, except…"We're going to the Super Bowl baby!!"

Go Broncos!!

Have a great weekend!!
