Powering Through

4 Years, 41 Weeks.

We had a slow but productive week.  We also had a couple of sore throats, but nothing serious.

Other than that, here was our week:

Mommy was under the weather Sabbath so I took the kids to church
while she stayed home to rest up.

We were invited to have lunch with the Mahavirs to enjoy their new patio.

A cold front was whipping in so we enjoyed their outdoor fireplace.

Bundled up to watch Brae and Kohl's soccer games.

Brae with some of the girls on the field.

Action shot!

Brae taking the chore of cleaning the sink and loading the dishwasher.

Twins ready for school on Monday.

Celebrating Corey's birthday with the crew at Winter Garden Pizza.

The kids in height order, like a police line-up, except goofier.

Swung by OSC to see their new exhibit on Tuesday.

What a beauty.  She's going to be a model.

Kohl enjoying the space craft.

With Dora and Boots.

Helping Daddy with his garage project.

Reading the twins a story while I prepare supper.

Her daily chore.  She's enjoying the responsibility and doing a great job!

Buddy working on his coloring.

Maddy playing nicely all by herself.

Origami Club this week, we made a house.

Making homemade pizza for dinner!

Have a great weekend!

Kubiak!!!

4 Years, 40 Weeks.

We have a new head coach, but he's been a Bronco for the past 30 years.

Elway hired and named Gary Kubiak the new HC for Denver, taking him from the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator capacity.

He had been Elway's back-up QB for 8 years in Denver, and then became the offensive coordinator for the Broncos, helping them win back to back championships in '97 and '98.  7 years a head coach for the Houston Texans, he was brought in by Baltimore last year and helped the Ravens continue to have a prolific offense.

So now we wait and see that happens during the off season:  the Draft, re-signing free agents, and Peyton Manning(?).  So exciting!

Elway, Kubiak, and CEO Joe Ellis.

Also...Wow.

The worst possible scenario for a Super Bowl, in my humble opinion, has come to fruition.

Seattle vs. New England, can you believe it?!?

So now, who do you go for:  the dirty team that kicked your hiney by 38 points in last year's Super Bowl, or the ones being accused of cheating for letting out air pressure in their balls during last week's Championship game, now infamously referred to as deflate-gate?

Hmmm.  The lesser of two evils…

I think I'm just going to look forward to the commercials and Katy Perry's halftime show!

Here was our week:

At the Jamerson's for potluck lunch after church.

We had a cornucopia of international flavors!

All the families represented by their children!

The crew for a bowling night out!

Maddy uses the ramp, trusting her ball to pick up the spare without even looking!

Johnsons, Cochrans, Isidros, Grodacks, Bergherms, and Zbaraschuk families.

Rode the trail Sunday morning to meet the family for soccer practice at the Apopka SDA church.

Braelyn working on her dribbling skills.

She looks like a natural!

Kohlden really getting into the game.  He had a smile on his face the entire time,
periodically looking at Mommy and giving her a thumbs up!

Maddy enjoying herself in the nearby playground.

We hit the Magic Kingdom for a few hours Sunday afternoon.
Met up with Tinkerbell...

Were the second family in line to meet

Merida from "Brave".

And Ariel from "The Little Mermaid".

Also Goofy,

and The Amazing Donaldo!

Waiting for a treat with a pretty nice view of Cinderella's castle.

And the ride home.

Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Brae had the day off
so she met up with some classmates for a girls' play date.

Collecting 100 words to bring to school to commemorate OJA's 100th day of school this year.

She even dressed the part of a 100 year old lady!

Her class, what a bunch of old people!

She came downstairs with this outfit on all by herself.  Pretty cute Maddy!

Working on some puzzles.

Origami class #2.

Showing their face changer craft that they made.  Pretty neat!

Randoms:

My contribution to Sabbath's potluck:  Roasted beet couscous with feta.

You don't want to mess with this bad-a$$...

unless you're a cop loading your assault rifle in the shopping center parking lot, what the what??

A sad week, we purged our Broncos gear to stash it away until next season.
August can't get here fast enough!

Quotes:

  • The twins were watching the trailer of our NYC trip Tangie and I took last June.  Maddy noticed the last clip where we were sitting atop the double decker bus in the rain:
Maddy:  "Daddy, that last one, it was raining and you guys were
                          wearing nachos."
          Kohl:  "Nachos?  You mean ponchos!"
Maddy:  "Oh, right.  I mean ponchos."

  • The twins had just finished eating lunch; I had made them PB with banana and honey sandwiches:
Kohl:  "Daddy I wish I had a big tummy, so can eat 100 of those
                       sandwiches!"

  • Waiting in line to pick Brae up from school, Kohlden noticed some movement across the street from where we were:
          Kohl:  "Daddy, Daddy!"
          Me:  "What is it?"
Kohl:  "I see a cat on the road!"
          Me:  "Where?"
          Kohl:  "Over there!"
          Me:  [looking]  "That's a dog."
Kohl:  "I see a dog on the road!"

          Oye.

Have a great weekend!
