Remember this guy?
Yup, the same one from around the same time last year.
The stomach bug. The dreaded norovirus.
For some reason it seems to think that it's welcome in our home, and decided to pay an unannounced, unexpected visit this past Tuesday evening. Unfortunately the twins were the unlucky recipients. At the same time.
So, double the trouble, Tangie and I spent a couple of hours in the middle of the night cleaning and disinfecting both of the kids, the bathroom tile, and carpet, trying to clean up projectile whilst trying not to lose our own supper. Note to self: digested marinara sauce and white carpet do not mix well together. They would have several more episodes overnight, and so I kept them from school the following day for observation.
Kohlden seemed to shake it off after 24 hours. As of Thursday Maddy was still day to day and had her moments: puny at first and then running around like there's nothing wrong, only to rush to the bathroom clutching her tummy. She had it the worst last year, if you'll remember, and we ended up having to take her to the hospital to get IV's for dehydration. Fortunately I've been mindful this time around to force the fluids down, and she's been responding well, so cross our fingers. At least it's happening this week, and not during Thanksgiving break!
Although, it'll only be time until the rest of the family gets it...
Ugh.

Quotes:
- Supper at Cracker Barrel, the kids and I were playing checkers, both Braelyn and I noticed an unpleasant smell:
Brae: [looks at me accusingly] "C'mon Daddy…"
Me: [defensive] "That wasn't me!!"
[I turn to Kohl] "Kohlden, did you toot?"
Kohl: [smiles] "No."
Maddy: [smiles guiltily] "It was me!"
- The twins and I were watching a video demonstration of the brand new roller coaster slated to be the world's tallest and built in Orlando by 2017. Kohlden said, "That's a long ride. I don't want to do that ride, because I might have to go potty in it."
- After we had prayer for our meal:
Maddy: "Daddy, what are fathers?"
Me: "Fathers are men that have children. I'm a father."
Maddy: "Oh."
Me: "Is Uncle Mike a father?"
Maddy: "Yes."
Me: "Is Duncan a father?"
Maddy: "Yes."
Me: "Is Kohlden a father?"
Maddy: "No. But he'll be one soon!"
Um…is there something you're not telling us Buddy??
- Asking Maddy some random questions:
Me: "What's your favorite number?"
Maddy: "100."
Me: "What's your favorite color?"
Maddy: "Red."
Me: "What's your favorite vegetable?"
Maddy: "All of them. Except avocados."
Me: "What's your favorite fruit?"
Maddy: "All of them. Um…is avocados a fruit?"
Me: "Yes."
Maddy: "Okay. I don't like avocados."
Me: "What's your favorite animal?"
Maddy: "All of them."
Me: "What's your favorite nut?"
Maddy: "Coconut!"
Me: "What's your favorite ice cream flavor?"
Maddy: "All of them. Except for avocado ice cream."
You don't like avocados. Got it.
Have a great weekend!

Did you find out what Kohl is not telling you? Lol! I love avocados and if Maddy will taste mt avocado sandwich, she'll like it too!
ReplyDeleteI wondered who stole my bumper sticker. I really did not want to put it on my car as I felt sorry for everyone else. Nice to see that mommy gets a good reception when she surpeises the kids, it would be a shame to hear "Oh its just mommy".
