Just Plain Sick

3 Years, 25 Weeks.

I couldn't believe it.

I was starting to feel a little bit sick.

Not Tangie, nor the kids.  Just me.

We had just arrived from Denver late Thursday night, when I started to feel achy.  I could tell my lymph nodes were swollen and thinking uh, oh this is not good.  I helped put the kids to bed and then turned on SportsCenter to catch up on some scores and wind down.  That's when it hit me hard.

I crawled into bed with chills, shivering uncontrollably.

Needless to say, it made for a pretty miserable weekend.  By Saturday I conceded and dragged myself to the doctor for some antibiotics.  It was funny though, filling out the paperwork and not remembering some key information (i.e. that I'm allergic to all kinds of penicillins!) because I hadn't been to the doctor in almost 2 years.

Pretty awesome!

Here was our week:

  • Sabbath Tangie took the kids to church and Sabbath school, while I slept in and then made  my way to the doctor's.  It was pretty low key in the afternoon and evening, me staying home while Tangie took the kids to the Hilliard's house for catchup and swimming with some friends.  We finished the evening catching up on the shows we recorded while we were on vacation.

Tangie trying to assist in pulling Brae's other loose tooth.

Enjoying some banana splits at the Hilliard's!

Late night dip.

  • Sunday we had a lazy morning making breakfast of pancakes and waffles, getting everyone dressed and ready for the Whitaker triplets' 2nd birthday party at the Fulbright's barn in Apopka.  Afterwards it was all about the Broncos as we barely survived the game against Dallas.  What a show!

Different chefs for the different food stations!

The grounds at the Fulbright estate.  Gorgeous setting!

This was inside their barn!

Braelyn riding "Angel" the small pony.

So little sister gave it a try and enjoyed it.

But this one wouldn't let go of Mommy!

He'd rather ride this!

The boys in their Broncos orange.

Braelyn got a prize for bobbing an apple!

Pretty excited for the sack race.

The famous "Try and eat a hanging donut without using your hands" game.

The twins gave it a try!

Maddy speaking with one of the birthday celebrants.

Intently rooting for our team.  We barely came out alive!

  • The rest of our week.  It was Spirit week at OJA for Braelyn.

Monday was Pajama Day, hence the reason Brae is in her pajamas at Publix!

Wearing Mommy's shoes.

Wednesday was Crazy Hair day, so she colored it green...

complete with French braids!

Some crazy hair at school!

Gorgeous evening to be outside.  We went to feed the ducks.

Feeling happy to have helped some ducks in need.

Thursday was Sports Day, so she went as a Denver Nuggets cheerleader.  Don't ask me why.

Goofing off in the van while we wait to pick up big sister!

Garden Update:

I planted one watermelon plant and it spread throughout the entire playground area!

Our one and only watermelon!

She was so excited to open it.  It was orange like cantaloupe, with the taste and consistency of watermelon!

Food:

Watercress and Spinach salad with Mahi and Heart of Palm.

  • I was giving the twins their choice of snacks before heading off to pick Braelyn up from school.  The options were granola bars or dried cinnamon apples:
Madelyn:  "Um...I want the synonym apples."

  • The kids and I were at the playground having supper, and the sun was setting, and it started getting a bit breezy, with the temperature dropping:
          Me:  "Man, it's getting chilly!"
Brae:  "That's because it's Winter, silly."

          Not quite yet, but close!

One more slide before bed!

Have a great weekend!

  1. The green hair was great! Did it come out with 1 washing? We still are eating our tiny watermelons. The best one was 3 inches round. Hard to believe. I hope you are feeling much better. Love, Nana
