This past week we were stricken with the stomach bug, courtesy of the twins' first grade class. Kohl came down with a fever on Friday and had to be picked up from school early. He couldn't keep anything down, and would proceed to have episodes that night all the way through Saturday evening. He didn't have any appetite and we noticed that he hadn't had any real bowel movements so we knew he was dehydrated to the point that he couldn't pass anything ~ and we remembered that Madelyn had had that happen to her several years ago and had to be admitted overnight at the hospital with an IV. So Tangie picked up a suppository to help him from keeping blocked up, and it finally started working Saturday morning, as he was able to start keeping some fluids in. But he was really tired and lethargic for a good 48 hours, and it was a relief to see his appetite come back and the color on his face return. We kept him home on Monday for an extra day to recover.
He had fallen asleep in the office when I went to pick him up.
Just sad to see him without any energy.
We would find him asleep in random places all weekend.
But that relief was short lived. On Tuesday both Madelyn and I became stricken with the same bug; fever followed by retching and uncontrollable diarrhea. Just nasty. I was in the fetal position for a good 36 hours and Maddy slept on the bathroom floor. We kept sipping our Gatorade and Pedialyte, sucking on my cycling gummy blocks to get our electrolytes back from all the fluids lost. We would be out of commission through Thursday; fortunately Tangie was able to help with Kohl and Brae, even though she was starting her first week at Siemens. We would quarantine them to the upstairs, hoping she and Brae wouldn't catch this outbreak. I don't remember ever having it so bad before.
Trying to stem the chills from the fever.
What a pathetic looking duo!
Just getting as much sleep as possible.

After 18 years of working for the same company, Tangie is finally moving on. She is starting a new job and position with Siemans, who was a client of hers when she was leading their audit team for Ernst and Young.
Bittersweet for her as she leaves behind a great team with wonderful colleagues, but she is excited with this new adventure and working for an iconic company in a new industry!
They threw her a farewell party at the end of busy season get together. Here with the managing partner Mike Patillo.
Thanks for everything Ernst and Young!
