For Life.

5 Years, 25 Weeks.

We sold one of our cribs, along with the changing table/dresser this week.

And with it, a slew of memories.

The Twins' nursery, 5 years ago.

I get that way with a lot of things, especially when it's time to move on from them.  The same thing happened to every single car I've had, at the moment we sold it to upgrade to the next vehicle.  I see experiences and adventures slip away.

Call me sentimental, but it was pretty tough watching those pieces of furniture drive away.  Thoughts of putting Madelyn to bed for so many nights in that crib.  Changing countless diapers for Braelyn and the twins on that dresser.  Those special moments as a novice daddy are now just fleeting memories.

We sold it to a sweet young redneck couple from Groveland, who are expecting their first, a baby girl.  But talking to them, even for the 30 minutes it took me to help dismantle the crib and help load up the furniture in their old, beat up Toyota pick-up, made me realize they were the right people to get it, among the numerous inquiries we received from our Craigslist ad.   I had shared to the young man how emotional it was to give up these pieces that have been a such a part of our early years as a family, and he said that they would add more experiences to those memories, which made me feel really good about selling the stuff to them.

The furniture was made and manufactured by Crib 4 Life.  But they were more than just furniture.

Indeed, we'll keep those very special memories, for life.

The Daily Grind

5 Years, 24 Weeks.

It's that time of the year where we are just settling in to our daily routine and schedule, with the occasional smattering of birthday parties or family outings over the weekend.

The kids have already been in school for an entire quarter, and they are doing quite well; our first parent/teacher conference this week left us feeling proud and happy with their progress in school, both scholastically and socially.  Hard to believe we're already 1/4 of the way done with the school year!

Meanwhile, we continue to tackle our workload, the daily grind.  Noses buried deep in our responsibilities, sometimes just giving ourselves a moment or two to come up for air.  Soon the holiday craziness will be upon us, but until then, we're keeping busy.

Here was our week:

He put the arch together all by himself!

Braelyn perfecting her headstand!

Great weather to enjoy the Food & Wine festival.

Nice to have an older sister as your math tutor!

Mommy home early one night to do story time.  What a treat!

Enjoying her chocolate cake pop from the bake sale benefitting Breast Cancer Awareness.

Brae missed out on the bake sale so we swung by a bakery in
College Park so she could get a cookie too.

Working on their Legos together.

Uncle Mike was in town this week and swung by to see the kids before bedtime.

Uncle Roger was in town as well so we planned a get together for the evening.

It was great catching up, sharing stories and reminiscing of when we were kids together.
