Life Goes On

4 Years, 19 Weeks.

This past weekend we went down to Avon Park for Grandma Isidro's memorial service on Sabbath afternoon.

The service was beautiful and heartfelt; there were plenty of memories shared of the grand lady we knew as Grandma.  It was joyful and sad, all at the same time.  There was some laughter, there were many tears.  But most importantly, there was hope.

Hope for the grand reunion with her and her family on Resurrection Morning.

Until then, life goes on.

Here was our week:

Big sister got picked up first on Friday afternoon, so she enjoyed helping me
pick up the twins from school!

How we found the kids when we turned in for bed.

They started sleeping all nice in a row and ended up like this!

Grandma's memorial service at the chapel.

The family all sitting together up front.

Giving my tribute.

There were a lot of people in attendance, and all partook of the potluck dinner
at the Fellowship Hall afterwards.

The kids interacting with Cousin Patrick's girlfriend Jenice.
Kohl was enamored by the much older woman!

Waking Mommy and Daddy up Sunday morning.

Shopping for riding lawn mowers!

Playing games in the kitchen while supper gets prepared.

Feeling puzzled.

Braelyn helping the twins with their homework.

Renewed our membership to the Orlando Science Center and visited after school on Tuesday.
The kids were thrilled with the Curious George exhibit!

Can you guess which kid this is?

Buddy enjoying the water play as always.

The crew got together at the Grodacks for Colby's birthday.

Singing Happy Birthday to the 1 year old.

Colby enjoys his smash cake...

And is promptly bathed in the kitchen sink!

Ready for another day at school!

Lean and Green:  A garden landscape!

Weather:

Ugh.  Just Ugh.  And the Feels Like number is blah!

En route to Avon Park, Maddy spotted a rainbow.

A gorgeous sunset to welcome the Sabbath.

Random:

Um…I don't know how well this house will sell, with the circus in town...

Well, no wonder it's been so hot!!

Quotes:

  • The kids were discussing how many swimsuits each one owned:
Maddy:  "I have four." [she proceeds to describe them]
Me:  "Well, what about the green one?"
Maddy:  "You mean the one with the lizard?"
          Me:  "Yeah."
Maddy:  But I can't wear that one."
          Me:  "Why not?"
          Maddy:  "It's too babyish!"

  • The family was having breakfast outside at First Watch Sunday morning, and saw some sky writing in the distance:
Kohl:  "I think Jesus wrote it!"

  • Madelyn and I were practicing putting compound words together:
          Me:  "Sun and screen."
          Maddy:  "Sunscreen!"
          Me:  "Surf and board."
          Maddy:  "Surfboard!"
          Me:  "Killer and whale."
Maddy:  "But we don't say that word…"  (killer)
Me:  "Yes, but only if we're talking about the killer whale."
          Maddy:  "What's a killer whale?"
          Me:  "Like Shamu."
Maddy:  [shocked]  "What??  A Shamu died???"

Pre-K!

4 Years, 18 Weeks.

Ok, so this just happened...

We are now in the time of our lives when our precious twins have started going to school.

Can you believe it?!

Wow, as slow as the past four years have seemed, they really have just flown by.

Maddy and Kohl are now attending classes 3 days a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  They start at 8:30 AM and finish at 2:15 PM, which means that I now have a few mornings to actually work on and expand my coaching business.   It's been a weird transition; the first day I felt so lost without them.  I came back home after dropping them off ( luckily only 3 minutes away!) and the house was so eerily quiet, I had to yell their names like I was calling them to come downstairs.  But then I remembered how much more productive I could be, so I moved on.

They were so excited to go to school, and their smiles beamed from when they got up, to getting dressed and eating breakfast, to having to pose for a hundred pictures for Daddy, to walking up to their classroom.  And the smiles were still there when I picked them up that afternoon.

She just wanted to get in the van and go to school!  Look at that smile.

Making their way to their classroom.

Putting their things in their cubbies.

Kohl at his desk.

Maddy at hers.

With her friend and now her classmate Gabriella Ottati!

One last hug for Daddy's sake!

At pick-up, I see you!

Looks like they enjoyed themselves.

After school treat!

Congratulations on this next stage, Maddy and Kohl!  We know you both will do great and amazing things!

Here was our week:

Friday we swung by our farm to pick up some eggs for the weekend.

Still a little stinky, says Miss Sassypants.

Watching Mommy on TV while eating breakfast Sabbath morning.

She was up front at church doing the offering call for all 3 services.  She did a great job!

Maddy at Sabbath School.

Adalyn and Madelyn share hugs.

I age pretty well, don't you think?

A new look for Kohl.

Watching the sunset with Lolo and Lala.

Sabbath evening worship with the grandparents.

FaceTime with Uncle Mike and Cousin Preston.

Teaching the grandparents how to play Mexican Train dominos!  They had a lot of fun.

Went on a couple rides Sunday morning, including one around the neighborhood with Braelyn!

Going down the bike trail, greeting our friends Cy and Devi Mahavir.

Participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge...

Giving Lala hugs goodbye.  Thanks guys for hanging out over the weekend!

Corey had the day off, so Duncan swung by for a bit so the kids could entertain each other.

Maddy holding Colby Jack.

Tuesday we took a trip to IKEA to get some items.

It didn't hurt that kids eat free that day!

Getting picked up from school on Wednesday, all smiles.

And with blue tongues to boot!

More wig play.  Hello Mr. Washington!

She's growing up old so fast!

Food:

Rosemary Rack of Lamb with Basil Pesto on Roma and Buffalo Mozzarella.

Fresh baked zucchini muffins from scratch!

Weather:

Friday morning thunderstorms rolling in, caught great flashes of lightning behind the clouds, and

even some lightning strikes!

A couple of glorious sunsets during the week.

Talk about a fireball in the sky!

Incredibly hot this week!  Feels like triple digits...

Because it was!!

Randoms:

Need some carpet?

Look who sat next to me at church!  Kramer!!

Holy hair Batman!

Brae fashioned herself a desk for her room.  Pretty creative! [and messy!]

Seeing double?  The twins goofing around; Kohl was a good sport.

Looking for a sign…sheesh!

Excuse me sir, but do you know where I can get myself some flowers??

Quote:

  • I was cooking in the kitchen when Braelyn ran over to me:
Brae:  "Daddy!  There's a spider in the house!!"
Me:  [not even phased]  "What kind is it?"
          Brae:  "It's a big one!  I think a daddy long-legs?"
Me:  "So is it bothering you?"
Brae:  [pause] "Uh…it's listening to our music!"

A successful pre-season so far.  Go Broncos!

Have a great weekend!
