200!

3 Years, 43 Weeks.

They say you have to save the best for last.

So I have.

This is my 200th post on this blog.  Alas, it is also my last one.

They say to go out on top:  Michael Jordan did it.  So did John Elway.

200 posts.  Crazy...

As was our week:

Picked Brae up early from school Friday morning with a slight fever.

In the Olympic spirit, doing some "tile curling" in the kitchen.
I didn't have the heart to tell Kohlden that archery is not an event at these Olympics.

Still feeling a little ill, she fell asleep on the sofa.

Sabbath was cold, rainy day.  We opted out of church and walked around
Old Winter Garden in our umbrellas.

Brunch at Panera.

Mommy and Kohl spent some time baking in the afternoon.

Sunday morning Brae worked on some school lessons on my laptop, while Kohl watched closely.

Deciding on what our summer crop will be.

Biology field study:  dead water beetle.

It was a gorgeous day for water play in the backyard, although the water was still a bit chilly.

So he watered the vegetables instead.

Morning practice on their letters.

Lunchtime is when the house is the quietest.

Greeting a pair of Labradors on our way to Tijuana Flats on Tuesday.

Maddy getting her morning exercise.

Maddy saw some twins on Sesame Street and said, "Hey look!  That's us!"

Getting real tall.

Picking Brae up from school.

Thursday afternoon stop to Costco.

Maddy found something she really liked!

Enjoying the samples.

Randoms:

Are you guys closed?  I couldn't tell with all the signs...

Saw this cute kid's wood carved potty with built in toilet roll and book rack!

Duncan and I did 40 miles early Sunday morning!

Anyone need a boat?

Unnerving when buzzards are watching your children play in the backyard.

Big storm came through Wednesday evening.
Tangie called to warn me about 30 minutes before it hit.
It took down the hanging lights on the pergola and playground.

Quotes:

  • Friday evening, having supper with Mommy, after not seeing her all week:
Kohl:  [to Tangie]  "Are you sleeping here?  Why did you come here?"
Mommy:  "Why did I come here?  Because I live here."

  • Watching the Olympics opening ceremony, we saw the country Hungary enter the stadium, to which Braelyn said, "Hungry?  Daddy!  They're from hungry!"

  • Continuing the introduction of countries during the opening ceremony, we saw the United States enter the stadium, with the camera focusing on the famous snowboarder Shaun White:
Brae:  "Daddy, is Shaun White family to Ellen White?"
Me:  "No, he's not family to Ellen White."
Brae:  "Why not?  He has the same last name!"

  • Hanging out with Kohlden:
Me:  "Kohl, do you enjoy hanging out with Daddy?"
          Kohl:  "Yeah."
          Me:  "Why?"
          Kohl:  "Because you're so handsome."

  • Trying to decide which restaurant to meet Mommy for dinner Sunday evening:
Me:  "All right guys, what are you in the mood for?  Pasta?"
          Brae:  "No way."
Me:  "No, not pasta.  I mean Italian.  Mexican was last night, we made
                    tacos and quesadillas."

          [no answer]

Me:  "Madelyn, what do you want?"
Maddy:  "I don't know.  Is there cereal there?"

  • At Home Depot, about to check out, Kohlden informed me that he had to go potty.  I told him to wait and hold it, and when I looked down, he was grabbing his crotch.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!

By the way, I was just kidding about this being the last post...

*sigh*

Have a great weekend!
