"We the jury find the defendant, George Zimmerman, not guilty."
And so ends another dramatic, media hyped court case, that had put the national spotlight on the town of Sanford, Florida, about 40 minutes north of us.
A news station asked on air if and when Central Florida will move on after the verdict.
My answer: When the news and media quit bringing it up and talking about it!
Seriously, people. Enough!
Let. It. Go.
Here was our week:
- Saturday we were low key and stayed home because of some bad Mexican food. Tainted tomato salsa, to be specific, and from Chipotle, of all places. Unfortunately for Tangie, she being the only one that had any of it, and so she was the only one affected, but it was pretty bad for 24 hours. Okay, more like really bad. Like, can't hold anything in bad. Uncle Mike was still in town so he hung out with us and helped me with the kids while Tangie stayed pretty much incapacitated for the entire day.
| I inadvertently gave them mocha with coffee when I thought it was hot cocoa mix. |
| You can see the affect it had on Maddy already! |
| Rainy Friday afternoon. |
| Keeping them busy with play doh in the kitchen. |
| Shucking some sunflowers from the garden to roast the seeds. |
| Lunch with Uncle Mike. Love how Kohl and his hair look alike. |
| Such a sweet smile. Maddy's, not mine. |
- Sunday Tangie was feeling much better so we went over to attend the Bergherm boys' birthday party at their clubhouse and pool. Jennifer, as usual, went all out and created a fabulous Lego Olympic theme. And then somehow I ended up playing camp counselor and got all the kids to do some races/games in the pool while all the other parents mingled and chatted! I think I'm going to start a trend next year to see how simple and low budget we can have our birthday parties ~ all this Pinterest stuff keeps getting more and more extravagant! Popcorn and ice cream, I say.
| Seriously, Jennifer. |
| The birthday cake. |
| Getting ready to eat after already hitting the water. |
| The water was unusually warm in some spots...with all those kids in it... |
| Enjoying her treat. |
| Ready for the "Hold your breath underwater the longest" game. Something I made up, of course. |
| The whole gang. |
| Doing the "Let's see who can float on their back the longest" game. Again, made up. |
| Duncan mans the ball/javelin ring toss. |
| Making their own pizzas for dinner at Uno's Chicago Pizza. |
| Maddy flirts with the camera. |
| Helping Daddy water the vegetables. |
| Coloring session. |
| What a juicy strawberry does to your teeth. |
Talking with Uncle Mike the night before he left back for California.
It was so great to see him! |
| Madelyn spraying her sister in the face during water play. |
| The Grodacks joined us for water play the following day. |
| Nice to share lunch with friends. |
| Smoothie break in between slip 'n slide sessions. |
| A well deserved treat! |
| Whipped cream mustache. |
| Big sister brushing little princess's hair. |
| Taking advantage of free kid's summer bowling. |
| Helping Maddy push the ball down the ramp. |
| Good thing we have the gutter rails up! |
Garden update:
| Brought in a live Pipevine Swallowtail on the sunflower to show the kids. |
| I had to fend off several Japanese beetles as they were starting to eat up our Catawba grape vine! |

| Text conversation between Adam and me this week. Pretty cool! |

Quote:
- We were loading up our cart to head into Costco when an elderly man walked behind me:
Man: "I'm so very sorry."
Me: [thinking he meant he was sorry for me being with the kids] "For what?"
Man: "I didn't mean to startle you guys."
Me: "I don't understand..."
Man: "Oh. I just burped out loud."
Me: "Oh."
Silence. And then he and I burst out laughing!
Have a great week!
I was slow in looking at the blog, but there were some great pics as usual. The kids are getting even cuter. I didn't know that Tangie was sick, was she the only one to eat the salsa??? That was a great text from Adam, wow!
