Dog Tired

5 Years, 12 Weeks.

As in, I'm really, really tired...of this dog.

Man, it's been crazy here the past few weeks since we got Tux.  Especially at night, where he whines and yips because we keep him in a crate downstairs in the laundry room.  Dogs in nature are pack animals and don't want to be separated from their family; Tux especially suffers from separation anxiety at night, and when we leave the house.  Unfortunately, the base boards have to suffer the consequences.

Take it out on the house.  That'll teach them to leave me for 8 hours...

We love this dog so much.

Nights have become sleepless for me, since I have very acute hearing when it comes to crying noises; I was usually the first one to hear the twins crying in their rooms in the middle of the night when they were still babies/toddlers.  So yes, Tux's whimperings downstairs started keeping me up or waking me up in the middle of the night.

A couple of friends suggested I use essential oils to help me fall asleep and stay asleep, so now we have this diffuser by our bed misting heavenly lavender oil, finally giving me a restful slumber.  It feels like going to bed in a spa every night!

That said, I'm turning the diffuser on and turning in, if you don't mind.

Here was our week:

Took Tux to the vet for his wellness exam.  All things good, except the separation anxiety part.

Attended a family vespers program Saturday night called DoDad Lab.

Professor DoDad using airwaves to pummel the kids, much to Kohl's delight!

Maddy and Adalyn wouldn't let each other go.

This continued at the restaurant we had supper at with the Jamersons.

Maddy helping with the dishes at breakfast.

Working on his KONG toy.  We got it to curb his chewing other objects.
Like the baseboards.

Went to EPCOT Sunday evening.  Learning about sharks.

Making music by jumping on squares.

Riding the Test Track!

Supper in China.

Practicing their letters.  Can you tell which ones?

Buzz Lightyear attraction at the Magic Kingdom.

Superhero mash up.

Catching up with Lala via FaceTime.

Three musketeers, all for one and one for me!

Pirate Princess.

Mommy had a business meeting in Tampa on Wednesday, so we accompanied her and went to
the Museum of Science and Industry there, but not before swinging by a park first.

Maddy the hockey player.

Braelyn the astronaut.

Sticking their admission stickers on the traffic cones, like everyone else!

Thursday afternoon, lost a tooth!

Side view.  The tooth fairy gave her $2 that night!

Working on a science experiment:  homemade bitter apple repellant spray for Tux.

Taking Tux out for his daily walk.

Randoms:

Our forecast the entire week was 90%-100% chance of rain.

Braelyn asked Siri a question and this was her answer.

Random people sleeping at Disney.

Best kid's hair award goes to...

Quotes:

  • Heading to Tampa, talking to the kids about going to the Science Center, the twins were discussing whether they remembered having been there before:
          Maddy:  "Have I been there?"
          Me:  "Yes."
          Maddy:  "Was I zero?"  (age)
Me:  "No, you were probably 2 or 3."
          Kohlden:  "I remember going there."
          Me:  "How do you remember?"
Kohlden:  "Because I have my own eyes.  And my own head."

  • Driving through Tampa, Braelyn was noticing and reading the names of the street signs:
Brae:  "Hey!  Martin Luther King, Jr.!  I know that name!"
Me:  "Yes, every city has a street or something named after
Martin Luther King, Jr.    Do you know who he was?"
Brae:  "Yeah.  He was the one that freed all of the slaves."

Hmmm….we might need to work on our civil rights history!

Have a great weekend!!

No More Drama!

5 Years 11 Weeks.

This week saw the last meeting for our Drama Club, as our summer session was completed on Friday.  But that was not before we had a chance to participate in Forest Lake's communion service last Sabbath, with many of our kids going up front and being a part of a sketch depicting them taking their crosses and burdens to Jesus, and Him taking it away.  It was great for the kids to experience being up front, and we heard from many members how much of a blessing they received seeing them on stage for all three services!

We also lost Nana this week; she flew back to Denver on Tuesday.  Alas, as they say, all good things must come to an end.  It was great having her here with us for almost 2 weeks, and the kids had a great time being spoiled rotten, as good grandmothers can do!  Thanks Nana for spending time with us!

Here was our week:

Met up with the Gilberts from California who were in town for a convention.
It was great to see them!

The cousins enjoyed hanging out together!

Took Tux to PetSmart to get more pet supplies.

Group exercise at kINd before practicing in the sanctuary.

Learning their places up on stage.  Bruce played the part of Jesus!

1st service team having prayer with Pastor Barb.

2nd Service team, Kohl and Maddy are 3rd and 4th from the left.

Group photo afterwards.

3rd service team before going up.  All girls crew!

Braelyn celebrating calm with Jesus.

We pulled down Zoe's old travel crate for Tux to use, as he had become destructive when left alone.

Kohl feeding his pet sister.

Maddy and Tux in matching outfits.

Saturday night activity included falling asleep on the sofa!

Went to go see a play at the Shakespeare theatre on Sunday.

With the Princess and the Frog.

Hitting the pool in the evening, Aunt Marlissa and Isabella came to join in the fun.

Nana multitasking at the Orlando Science Center, cutting up pizza and talking on her phone.

Kohl playing with electricity!!

Keeping their minds engaged, working on some school worksheets.

Maddy took Tux out to go potty but he preferred to just lie down on the grass.

Saying goodbye to Nana as she left for the airport.
This was the posed "crying" picture.

This is the real crying one, although it was because she bumped into a wall and hurt herself.
Love the photo bombs by her older siblings.

Watch out ladies!!  Mr. Muscles!!

Spending time with Tux.

They do adore him so.

Mid week trip to Animal Kingdom!

Munching on lunch while we wait for the Nemo musical to start.

It was a hot day, we did everything we could to stay cool...

including poaching ice from every drink kiosk and putting it on their heads!

Watching a hippo go under the water.

A ton of animals were out and about, we were lucky to see them all.

Best part of the visit?  A frozen chocolate covered banana.

We got Tux a new bed after he destroyed his other one.  This one would be ripped soon after,
so I ended up returning it back to PetSmart.

Continuing to stimulate the mind during summer break.

Running back to the car with school supplies as the rain begins to fall.

Kohlden uses his shirt as a cover from the rain!

My sous chef.

Actually, all three sous chefs.  They were in charge of supper:  Pasta and strawberries.

Susie and Tangie help prep dinner for the kINd party.

Maddy getting her performance certificate,

as did Braelyn and

Kohlden, for participating at Sabbath last week.  Great job guys!

Final treat, cupcakes from Miss Jennifer's Sweet Expectations Bakery!

Adventures With Tux:

Sabbath morning, Tangie awoke to his bed ripped to shreds,

and this, the inside door frame to the laundry room.

My dramatic faces when I found out.

Guilty!  Get used to those bars buddy!

Salmon supper for Nana.

Hmm…I wonder why I never gave Kohl this haircut when he was 1?

Best eclectic outfit at the Animal Kingdom on Wednesday!

He was on the bed 2 minutes and this happened!
Glad I kept my receipt!

Quote:

  • Riding with Tux in the van one day, Kohl stated:  "He kinda smells like a hotdog."

More like a hot mess.

Have a great weekend!
